AREA ACTIVITIES & LINKS

• Ortonville is located next to Big Stone Lake, where fishing is very popular. Many fishing tournaments and Walleye Classics are held such as the MWC Qualifying Fishing Tournament and the MWC World Walleye Championship Tournament

• Annual Cornfest held annually every third weekend in August. With activities such as Queen Coronation, Car and Motorcycle Show, Arts and crafts, 3-on-3 Basketball Tourney, 5k and 10k Race, Kids Games, Dance, FREE Sweet Corn Feed, Parade, Hole-In-One contest held on the Water, Canoe Races, Water Ski Show,Fireworks and more!

• Big Stone Bird Festival each May, led by the top birders in Minnesota and South Dakota, will center on the Big Stone National Wildlife Refuge, located in prairie pothole country.

  

• Apple Orchards Highway 7 north of Ortonville along Big Stone Lake. The best time is mid-September through October to enjoy a spectacular array of fall colors along Highway 7 on your way to the orchards.

• Big Stone County Museum Located at the junctions of State Highway 12 and 75. Museum hours - Tuesday through Friday, 11am to 4pm year round. Saturday and Sunday, 1pm to 4pm, May through September.

  

• Ortonville Golf Course offers 18 holes with watered fairways where the Couples Golf Tournament is held. This par 72 course has a scenic variety of par 3, 4 and 5 holes. Four ponds and bunkers add to the challenge of the course.

• The Minnesota River Valley Scenic Byways Route from Browns Valley to north of Henderson making this 300 mile scenic byway the longest in the state of Minnesota.
